Additional Information: In October 1994 the new Colorado Springs Airport opened. The airport terminal consists of 270,000 sq ft and has 16 carrier gates. Improvements and expansions have been undertaken since the opening of the new terminal. Three new passenger gates were added making a total of fifteen. "Jetwalk extenders" were installed to three gates to allow wide body aircraft; the aircraft parking apron was expanded to the east; construction of a new taxiway north of the terminal took place; surface parking was expanded between the entry and exit roads; two baggage carousels were added making a total of six; second level restrooms were expanded; the security checkpoint was expanded and new security check equipment was installed. Implemented the third phase of landscaping at the intersection of Powers Boulevard and Drennan Road. Constructed a new parking exit toll plaza. Western Pacific constructed a satellite terminal.
