Additional Information: Kotoka In´t Airport is one of only 5 airports in Africa to have the FAA accrediation to fly directly to the USA. A comprehensive development which is currently underway, has seen the refurbishment of the terminal building and control tower, the provision of a proper lounge and a modern arrival/immigration/baggage hall. Under Phase II of the KIA rehabilitation program, the runway was extended by 500 metres. The new freight terminal was expanded to cater for the increrasing volume of cargo passing through.
Construction works has begun in earnest on a dedicated domestic terminal. Work is also in progress for a separate parking bay at the cargo village to facilitate the speedy movement of freight there.
